Continental “Global Engineering Excellence” Initiative: The education of engineers with worldwide competency has failed to keep pace with globalization complex and highly dynamic development processes. This is one of the findings emerging from the Global Engineering Excellence study initiated by the international automotive supplier Continental AG. In view of this, researchers at eight top international universities are calling, among other things, for “open borders” and curricula with a pronounced international slant. At the presentation of the study on Friday in Kloster Eberbach near Frankfurt, Manfred Wennemer, Continental CEO, noted that an automotive supplier like Continental AG with worldwide operations is dependent on a young generation of highly qualified and internationally geared engineers to maintain and enlarge the innovative prowess so very indispensable in today’s highly competitive world.
